    1. God Save The Queen: Once again I’m ferrying the Supreme Empress of the Entire Universe to her destination. If I’m lucky, the UTF Revolution could become the preferred charter service for her majesty. She pays hansomely and usually brings a party with her.
    2. Burn That Feed: I run this podcast through Feedburner so I can track stats and offer a stable connection to the UTF Revolution’s servers. One of the things Feedburner tracks is the popularity of individual items in your blog…the most popular item here on High Orbit is episode 2:

I named the episode Hackers and the Small Penises They Hide As it turns out, if you want to attract all kinds of traffic to your site, put the phrase “small penis” somewhere out there. I checked it with the main website’s stats and the number one search reference went from “music” to “small penis”.

This, kids, is what we call “mixed emotions”.

    3. Welcome To The Indie Revolution: Being indie is no longer an excuse to post badly-produced material. Seriously. Anyone with a $500 Macintosh, a used stage mic, and a room with a door can make a studio-quality demo these days. If the static in the room and the uneven mixing is distracting people from your song, then that’s not doing the music any favors. Incidentally, other indie artists are usually willing to help with recording and production work. Get involved with your local music scene!
    4. New Toys: I just spent the last couple of days in Atlanta, GA with my good friend C.C. Chapman. We got to bring the wonder of podcasting to the people who greenlight commercials for HP, Pfizer, Home Depot, and a bunch of others. So, while I’m not looking to sell my soul to the highest bidder, I was most definitely excited about the prospect of getting this show or my music sponsored.

As sort of a celebration, I came home and bought this lovely new compressor I’m speaking through. I’ve also got a new patchbay to help keep all the cables and wires under control, so my little studio is growing. Unfortunately, I kept too high of a gate on the audio, so I apologize for the stuttering sound. I’m still fine-tuning this stuff!

There will be some more news about the marketing event in a later episode. All I can say for now is we had a good time, and we got video.

    5. Full Disclosure: Yes, we really were 100% sober when we recorded this. It’s just been a weird week. More action coming in episode 12..

    1. Smallfish Says:

      Mystery Science Theater 3000-esque

    2. Rob Says:

What’s up with the talking over songs?

    3. Matthew Ebel Says:

Well, the talking-over-songs bit is a byproduct of inviting Her Majesty on the show. It’s sort of a “listening with the empress” session. Next time I have any guests aboard the ship, though, it’ll be with individual microphones and headphones so we can isolate the chat from the music.

      Pax,
      Matthew

    4. Raymond Says:

Hey Mr. E, thanks for playing the Gum track. The support is appreciated. Also appreciated would be a large suitcase full of money, but I suppose we can’t have everything. Enjoyed your live set on ‘Accident Hash’, by the way.

    5. Dan Says:

Thanks, Matthew, for taking the suggestion of isolating the chat from the music. I found it a bit annoying as the music kept fading in and out during the song.

      Viva la Podsafe Army!
