Two Love Notes From Your Captain
I’m Wired, But My House Isn’t:
Comcast hates my house, and we’re currently in the process of courting it back. Hence, no episode until I can upload it. I recorded the thing on Father’s Day, but it probably won’t get out until Wednesday night. God bless technology, eh?
Operation Horned Horse:
For those that haven’t heard, I plan on taking High Orbit all over the US, recording live performances in as many towns as I can travel to. Got a favorite band that’s playing 2,000 miles away from you this weekend? I want to send you the live recording, and others like it every week. Are you old enough to remember Led Zepplin or Grateful Dead live bootlegs? I aim for nothing less than to bring full-quality live shows to the fans, 52 weeks per Earth year.
Unfortunately, a show like this will cost money. More than Wayne’s World, but fortunately a lot less than MTV Unplugged.
I need a sponsor to underwrite the show, someone who wants their products shared with live audiences and independent bands all over the US. Let’s see… who makes some of the best audio gear and recording software on the market? What hardware made Beer & Coffee possible in the first place? I know… Mark Of The Unicorn!
So here’s the mission- I need as many people as possible to politely email a guy named Jim Cooper, the marketing guy at MOTU, and let him know there’s a podcast out there just waiting to spread the MOTU love across the nation. Don’t be pushy, and don’t send him any epic testimonials (even though I’d love you for it anyway). All he needs is a little suggestion to stay in touch with me and hear what I’ve got to say. So please, please, please, take a moment and do this:
- Send an email to Jim Cooper <jim@motu.com>
- Let him know that you listen to High Orbit and that you love it (okay, be honest, but hopefully that is).
- Tell Jim that Matthew Ebel wants to take the show on the road, and you think MOTU can help out.
- If you like, try to mention how good High Orbit sounds since I’m using their hardware.
- Point him to www.highorbitpodcast.com to hear the show.
- Make sure you send Jim my email address, or just point him to www.matthewebel.com
It’s that easy! With enough support from you folks, I’m sure we’ll get his attention. If this works, I’ll be able to come to your town (um, assuming you’re in North America) and hang out with you!
